The Rock River Chapter of the American Red Cross will do their part to assist those affected by the tragic incident at Northern Illinois University. Six Red Cross volunteers who are licensed to provide mental health services in Illinois will be in Dekalb, Illinois through Tuesday as students return to campus.

“Our goal is to provide psychological first aid, and to provide further information on resources available to students,” says James Ryan, M.S.W. of Pathway Center in Rockford and a Red Cross volunteer. “Ultimately what you want to accomplish in this type of situation is to get people talking. This will foster a closer and stronger sense of community.”
