The Rock River Chapter of the American Red Cross will be present during the community cleanup in Poplar Grove this Saturday. One thousand volunteers are expected, through the coordination of Emergency Management of Boone County, to start clearing away debris from the fields beginning at 8 a.m.

The Rock River Chapter is currently engaged in client casework with two families, one of which has completely lost their home. They have since been put up in a local hotel. Affected families have been provided with necessities such as clothing and shelter assistance.

Emergency Management of Boone County has requested that the Red Cross be on the scene to ensure that volunteers are fed and kept hydrated. The chapter will setup a canteen station at the North Boone Fire District 3 station at 305 W. Grove Street and Illinois 173 in Poplar Grove.
